The Local Group Astronomy Club and The Santa Clarita Public Library present our free annual Astronomy Day Celebration. We will be at the Valencia branch of the Santa Clarita Public Library from 10am to 3pm. Open to the public, there will be booths and activities for the whole family including:
Solar viewing - View our nearest star safely with our special telescopes.
Comet Building - Watch us build a comet before your very eyes!
Craft Projects - Make a working sundial, planisphere or simply color in your favorite space picture.

At 10:30 Professor Teresa Ciardi from COC will be giving a presentation on "How far is it to our 'neighbors' in the universe." Great for kids of all ages!

Later that evening from 7:00 to 10:00 we will return for a star party in the back parking lot of the library. We'll have lots of cool telescopes to look through at the moon and other celestial objects.
