Our first public star party of 2015! We have some great targets this night:

Jupiter rises around 7pm.
Comet Lovejoy rises at around 5:30. Hopefully this should be spectacular!
Mars will be setting around 8:00.

And all the other wonderful winter targets like M31 (Andromeda Galaxy) and M42 (Orion Nebula).

The site of our quarterly public star parties.

Enter the park via the main gate, turn left at the ranger station and continue to the end of the road past the large rocks.

Notes:

This is a County Park so please be mindful of the rules. aka, no alcohol. No smoking of any kind except in your vehicle. The park normally closes at sundown but during our Star Parties, we make special arrangements to have the gates open until the event concludes. Also, please stay at the event after dark. The rest of the park is not open to the public after dark and you will be asked to leave if you stray from the event area.
