Our summertime star party. The event is free and the public of all ages are encouraged to attend. This is usually a late start event since sundown is not until 8:00pm this time of year. We need to be packed up and out of the park by midnight.

We will likely have solar telescopes setup before sundown so bring a picnic and enjoy the park. Once the sun sets we do ask that you limit your activities to just the star party area.

Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and maybe Venus should be visible shortly after sundown and then as it gets dark we will start looking at various stars, galaxies and nebulae.

There are usually lots of telescopes here so lines are almost non-existent and this affords the astronomers more opportunities to answer questions and talk about what they are observing.

Remember, NO FIREWORKS! We'll still have fun, we promise.

Enter the park via the main gate, turn left at the ranger station and continue to the end of the road past the large rocks.

Notes:

This is a County Park so please be mindful of the rules. aka, no alcohol. No smoking of any kind except in your vehicle. The park normally closes at sundown but during our Star Parties, we make special arrangements to have the gates open until the event concludes. Also, please stay at the event after dark. The rest of the park is not open to the public after dark and you will be asked to leave if you stray from the event area.
