"The Thirty Meter Telescope"

The Thirty Meter Telescope (often referred to as the TMT) is an extremely large telescope (ELT) project planned for installation in Mauna Kea. Hawaii. Incorporating 492 individual mirror segments, the telescope would use adaptive optics to provide clear images of astronomical objects in the near-ultraviolet and mid-infrared. Planned by a team of scientists at the University of California at Santa Cruz and Caltech, the project had started construction but was halted in 2014 due to environmental concerns. In this presentation, we'll get an update on the latest news and status of the TMT.

Club Member Ahbi Sheken will present a fun presentation on the various highlights to enjoy in the night skies.
