Our quarterly star party at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area. These are always a lot of fun. We've invited several other local clubs so there are always plenty of scopes of all types to look through. The public is encouraged to attend.

If you have your own scope sitting in the closet, bring it out and we'll help you get it set up at our telescope workshop. Starts about an hour before sundown.

It's a moonless night so the deep sky observing should be great. Saturn and Mars will also be visible.

Everyone, please arrive before sundown and park away from the telescopes to minimize the dust. Please point your car away from the viewing area to avoid blinding others when you leave. We love letting kids look through our scopes but please leave the light-up shoes at home. Thank you.

Enter the park via the main gate, turn left at the ranger station and continue to the end of the road past the large rocks.

Notes:

This is a County Park so please be mindful of the rules. aka, no alcohol. No smoking of any kind except in your vehicle. The park normally closes at sundown but during our Star Parties, we make special arrangements to have the gates open until the event concludes. Also, please stay at the event after dark. The rest of the park is not open to the public after dark and you will be asked to leave if you stray from the event area.
